Question by NIS: Helicopter Engine Dilemma?
If I were to get an Align T-Rex RC Helicopter would I be better off with the Align Hyper Engine or OS max? If there is another that is even better please tell me. I want the engine to be as hot as possible and last for a very long time, thanks!

"Hot" engines do NOT last as long as "standard" engines, and while they might provide more power, do NOT turn any faster than the others generally.
To increase power, use a higher nitro fuel.

One Response to “Helicopter Engine Dilemma?”

  1. The best way to make your glow engine last is to follow the recommended break-in instructions, be sure not to run it lean, and try not to force too much performance from a high-nitro blend fuel. My opinion on the best engine may be the new OS .55 Hyper for ease of tuning and a good value on a good performing engine. The YS engines have long been known for their high performance and I would suspect a better value for performance than an Align engine. If you really want some crazy power in a 600mm nitro helicopter, get an Audacity Pantera with a big-block kit an put a YS .91 engine in at .50 size heli. The one-way bearing can blow if you aren’t careful, but it’s a wild ride. Many people have run with the BBC kit, they allow .60-.90 size engines to bolt into a stock .50 Pantera.
